Version history records the development of your individual documents. You will know exactly that the last version is being worked on and that all of the previous versions are still intact. Teams can work together on one and the same document in real-time, even over long distances. There is a locking function (check-in, check-out) when downloading the document to be worked on; this guarantees that no two people will be working on the same document with one inadvertently overwriting the other's work.

In addition, team members can easily initiate an authorisation workflow for their documents. For example, instead of e-mailing a finished protocol "upstairs" and asking the boss to look through it and authorise it, you can start the authorisation process directly on the Web-based collaboration solution. Senior employees automatically receive a link, and can grant or deny authorisation as they see fit. This saves the trouble of countless e-mail attachments wandering around the intranet, and authorisation is centrally documented.
